First of all you have to download this hotfix and put it into your editor data folder:
Win Vista/Win 7/Win 8: C:/Users/“username“/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2018/editor data
Win 2000/XP: C:/Documents and Settings/“username“/My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2018/editor data
Win 98/ME: C:/My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2018/editor data
Mac OS X: /Users/“username“/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2018/editor data/
You need to start a new save with this loaded hotfix database, for Brazilian team kits to be shown.
How to do that?
- Start a new Football Manager carrer game.
- Click Database in the top-right of the screen, and make sure this database is ticked
Why Brazilian teams have 3-letter names and how to fix that?
If you started a save before applying this fix, Brazilian clubs will have a 3-letter name (e.g. AMG instead of América Mineiro). Even though Brazilian names are fixed in our files, the game will continue to show the 3-letter name instead of the full name. That is due to certain dbc files that affect them when you save your game for the first time. You need to start a new save AFTER applying this fix, for Brazilian team names to be correct.
How to fix fake club and competition names in FM18
- Quit the game.
- Find the „1810“ folder.
/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2018/data/db/1810/
/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2018/data/db/1810/
- Delete the 3 highlighted files:
- forbidden names.dbc
This will prevent Brazilian clubs from reverting to 3-letter names and will allow certain kits to be visible again. But with the combination of our hotfix, you will now see all of them.
Important: We have updated screenshots and instructions for the last database update (1810), so they apply only if you start a new save with the 18.1.0 Data Update. If your saved game is from the FM18 Beta, you need to apply the same steps to the 1800 folder as well.
