It’s very difficult to characterize this young footballer, who spent most of his beginning carrier in the country southern from the borders of our small Slovakia. But lets start his football biography with his first steps made here in Slovakia. His carrier began at FC Šamorín, where Dunajska Streda, his hometown club, found him. The return to his native place pleased him for sure, but he didn’t enjoy it long. After four years he moved to the FC Györ academy, just before his fourteenth birthday. These two clubs cooperate very closely and it happens very often that the greatest talents of Dunajska Streda gain the first international experiences thanks to the academy of this Hungarian club. And let’s say it openly – they have better conditions there to reach their potential too.

And it was not otherwise in the case of László Bénes. Already at an early age he showed flair and great technique, which enchanted coaches of DAC and scouts of Györ as well. With his solving of difficult football situations, speed, fighting spirit and great left foot, he attracted national team coaches as well and began to play for our youth national team in his fourteen years. His first match in the national crest was against Hungary on 8 October 2011 as a left midfielder. Was on the pitch 55 minutes and played very well. It also confirmed the words of Coach Petr Szénay:

„The first match was not good from us. We encourage our players to play attacking and attractive football, what we also fared relatively well, but we forgot to be consistent at back. We cannot complain about the efforts of our players. Our opponent overcome us after three mistakes in the defense, where the cooperation stalled sometimes, but it’s still very young category in which some of the players cannot cope with the fact they have a national crest on their chest and the national anthem is played before the game. We got into a shooting position in the second half, but we did not use our chances well. Hungarians had a better organization, but our players excelled more in the individual solving of game situations, especially in the attack. Bénes and Kopičár excelled most of all.“

The good performances of László in the Györ youth and reserve teams, but especially those in youth national teams, focused attention of several scouts. It peaked in early of 2015, when he was heavily linked with MŠK Žilina and their coach Adrián Guľa. The transfer was officially agreed at the end of March, when László was seventeen years old. If anyone thought he will play only for reserve team, he would be mistaken. The Adrián Gula’s philosophy is to give opportunity to young players and László received a good portion of games during spring part of the season. He played in eight games, twice in the starting line-up and eight times as a substitute. His team finished this season as vice-champions of the Slovak Fortuna liga.

He became member of the starting line-up during summer 2015 and he played in the Europa League qualification matches as well. He was the Guľa’s first choice as a central or a left midfielder. If an unexpected injury don’t stop his grow, we can assume that his performances will increase and there will be probably a huge interest from bigger clubs soon. László should be one of the best young Slovakian players in Football Manager 2016 and we hope that his quality performances will be reflected in the FM16 too. If you are looking for left footed midfielder or left winger and you prefer home-grown players, you surely have to focus your attention on this young skilled footballer.
